I often listen to Gary Vaynerchuck, who talks about having to be self aware to increase your chances of success. I have been screaming this message for years, which is why I created the impact test to identify my gaps and increase my awareness.
The sad thing is that many business professionals, entrepreneurs and business owners are in denial about who they are and where they are. So they bury their heads in the sand in fear of the answer. Which is why they are chasing life rather than living the life they aspire to have.
It is fairly clear that we will struggle to reach our destination, if we are unclear where our starting point is. If you have ever read a map and followed it, you will be know what I am talking about. You can go entirely in the wrong direction if you incorrectly know where you currently are.
Trust me I have made that mistake reading a map only to end up in a field being chased by a heard of cows. I didn’t wait to find out if there was one lucky bull amongst them, but I did discover how fast I could run. The short end of the story was that I was totally lost and two hours of course in the wrong direction, before I figured it out. By the way it was the days before, mobile phones even existed so there was no app to figure it out for me.
People are so busy attempting to rush forward that it is easy to become overwhelmed and miss what is most important.
If you are struggling to gain that clarity but know that you need to make changes in your life and want to know what your options are in terms of your work and even your personal life, you need to do one thing.
Stop for a second regroup, become prepared and I can assure you, you will start to get ahead of the game.
